How We Build Trust From the Start

Our Step-by-Step Vetting & Preparation Process

Step 1: Application

Every babysitter starts by completing a detailed application. We look for real, hands-on experience — whether it comes from babysitting, nannying, nursery work, tutoring or similar roles — paired with a genuine love for working with children. Experience matters, but so do availability, motivation and communication skills.

Step 2: Personal Interview

We meet every candidate in person or via video call. This helps us understand how they think, how they communicate and how they approach responsibility — beyond what's written on paper.

Step 3: Internal Training

Before working with families, sitters complete our internal training. We cover routines, boundaries, safety, communication and real-life situations that come up during shifts.

Step 4: Psychological Assessment

As part of our process, sitters complete a psychological test that helps us better understand their temperament, responsibility level and suitability for working with children and families. This step gives us deeper insight beyond experience alone.

Step 5: Reference Check

We contact referees to confirm reliability, character and previous experience.

Step 6: Background Check & First Aid

All sitters undergo background checks and must have valid first-aid knowledge. Children's safety is non-negotiable, and these checks are a core part of our standards.

Only after completing all these steps can a babysitter become part of the Babysitters' Club community.

Preparing for Your Babysitter

Once we've carefully matched you with a sitter, preparation becomes the focus — for you, your children and the babysitter.

During your enquiry, we ask about your family's routines, needs and preferences. The more we know, the better the match we can make.

Before committing to regular shifts, we always suggest one simple thing: start with a trial shift.

A short trial allows you to:

When the sitter arrives, a few calm minutes of handover go a long way. Walk through mealtimes, bedtime, allergies and anything specific to your household. Show where things are kept — pyjamas, snacks, favourite books.

If your children are old enough, letting them lead introductions often breaks the ice naturally.

We also encourage sitters to ask questions. Curiosity and communication are signs of genuine care — and we want everyone to feel at ease from the very beginning.

All shift requests and bookings are handled through our simple and transparent app, making scheduling clear and stress-free. Once everyone is comfortable, you're free to liaise directly with your babysitter — with the reassurance that our team is always available in the background if needed.
